Dairy company Tnuva's milk in a carton with a twist-on cap is Israel’s leading food product, outselling the top twenty most popular food products in the country.
The product has come in third over many years, but reached first place in 2006, outselling milk in a bag, which is currently Israel’s second most sold food product.
The reason lies in the comfort of twisting off a cap as opposed to dealing with the old fashioned milk-in-a-bag, according to findings presented by ACNielsen during their annual convention.
The data presented also showed that Israeli consumers purchased more health products in 2006 in comparison to previous years. This was apparent in the rise of mineral water and Cottage cheese sales, and the decline in coffee and coca cola sales.
According to the data, Tnuva products hold six spots in the top ten most sold food products in Israel. Tnuva’s milk in a carton, milk in a bag, kosher milk, Cottage cheese, Emek cheese, and enriched milk all made it to last years top ten.
The other four spots were taken by coca cola, Ein Gedi mineral water, Eden mineral water, and Strauss’ Cottage cheese.
Tnuva’s products held half of the positions in the top twenty most sold food products in Israel; in addition to the first six products, Tnuva’s 750 gram white cheese, 500 gram white cheese, eggs and Emek light cheese also made it to the top twenty.
