With more Jewish albums to his name than most musicians, Craig Taubman is one of the most prolific of Jewish artists around and in time for the High Holydays, Taubman has released his latest project - The Shabbat Lounge.
Taking as its theme, Shabbat, the album offers 13 tracks recorded by Taubman and delivers an accessible release to all.
"I wanted to breathe new life into the songs and make them relevant for a generation that might spend Friday night in a club rather than in a Synagogue," he says.
From opening track Greetings to the last, Eliyahu, Shabbat Lounge is packed with many tunes that make shabbat the special day it is in the Jewish week.
L'cha Dodi offers a twangy groove beat while Boi Kalah is very chilled and relaxed.
A great mix of tunes and arrangements that works well.
My only complaint, where's Ain Kalahanu and Adon Olam?
Maybe, The Shabbat Lounge volume 2 could make up for these two shortcomings in what is overall still a wonderful project.
