Who says it should only be Jewish men who get the best deal in head coverings?
A Los Angeles-based designer has come up with Diaspora Girl and offers a range of trendy head coverings for women who want to look cool in shul as well as hot outside.
Aimed at modern women who want to have a head covering, but don't want to wear female versions of Jewish male yarmulkes, the Diaspora Girl range features 12 styles in a wide range of colours and are all hand-crocheted.
The idea came to owner Rina Baraz who was rather embarrassed by the lack of choice women had when it come to wearing something on their head and who had to put up with unfeminine skullcaps.
The range includes Olive Oil which is in a shade of green, Japanese Blossom which features a floral band and Flapper Flair which is burnt orange.
And the price for having some happening headwear? A very reasonable $40.
