Celebrating Jewish diversity

Jews from across the globe have gathered in San Francisco over this weekend to take part in the Be'chol Lashon International Think Tank which is sponsored by the Institute for Jewish & Community Research.

The four day event is bringing Jews from North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and Israel to celebrate the diversity of Jews.

Be'chol Lashon in Hebrew means In Every Tongue.

"This important conference gives diverse Jews from around the world a chance to celebrate their ties to the Jewish people and Jewish faith," says Gary Tobin, president of the Institute for Jewish & Community Research.

Tobin is also the co-author along with Diane Tobin and Scott Rubin of In Every Tongue: The Racial and Ethnic Diversity of the Jewish People.

Among the topics which will be discussed and debated are issues of communal development and common bonds of the community as well as the threat of anti-Semitism and internal community conflicts between Jews of different backgrounds and origins.
