Want to find a unique way to take in the sites and sounds of Israel, well how about running around the country?
Jews around the world can compete in a number of annual Israeli marathons taking place throughout 2006.
Taking part is a great way to see the country as you run, or in the case of most Jews, as you gently move your legs.
If you have the stamina and the motivation to show you can be the best of the best, here's what's on offer.
The 29th international Tiberias Marathon takes place on January 5 2006. Entry fee is $50 until November 30 and $60 after that. As well as attracting international runners, you'll also be pitted against home grown talent including soldiers from the army. The race starts and ends in Tiberias and you will be running along the Southern banks of the Sea of Galilee. More info at: www.tiberias-marathon.co.il
If you are feeling tough, than a triathlon is what you should be aiming for and Israel offers a demanding one. Isreaman Eilat 2006 takes place on March 17 2006 in Eilat and offers 180km bike race, 3.8km swim in the Red Sea and 42.2km run. Entry fee is $350. For those who think it is too demanding, there is also a half triathlon which still involes 1.8k swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run. The half triathlon is also chwaper to enter at $200. If you don't fancy a full marathon, then a half marathon in jerusalem could be just for you. The 14th International Jerusalem Half Marathon takes place on March 30 2006 and offer a chance to run through the city. Runners start at Safra Square and end at the Givat Ram Athletic Stadium.
